INSTRUCTIONS FOR ON-LINE COURSE EVALUATIONS

Faculty Version

Note: The on-line course evaluation system may be used from office, lab and home - anywhere Internet access is available.

Overview: As of the spring 2004 semester, all students at Norwich University are required to complete a course evaluation for each course in which they are enrolled (for only those courses with a student enrollment of three or more). The Registrar, beginning two weeks prior to the start of final exams and ending one week following the last final exam, will enable the course evaluation system for the students. During that period, students must complete all course evaluations. Failure to complete a course evaluation will result in a "hold" being placed on the student's final grades. Completion of the course evaluations will result in the immediate removal of that hold. Faculty will not be able to view the evaluation results until the Registrar disables the student evaluation system (one week following the last final exam).

1. Log into CliC.

2. Select the "Banner Web" tab near the top middle of the screen.

3. Login using your User ID and 6-digit PIN code assigned by Information Technology.

4. Select "Faculty Services" from the menu.

5. Scroll down to select "Undergraduate Course Evaluation Results" from the next menu. Note: This menu option will only be available when the student course evaluation system is disabled by the Registrar's Office (one week following the last final exam). Faculty members can view, at any time, the actual evaluation questions (i.e. no results) by selecting "Undergraduate Course Evaluation Questions."

6. On the next form, choose "Spring 2004" which will probably be the default in the pull-down menu. Click on the "Submit" button. All course evaluations for that semester should appear. The faculty member can print the results by clicking on the browser's printer icon.

Understanding the Results:
- Courses with an enrollment of one or two students will not be included in the evaluation process.
- The results from the first ten questions (i.e. the instructor related questions) are compiled into a single number (i.e. the course average) located on the right side of the form. This course average, if marked with an asterisk, is used to compute the instructor's overall average that is located at the top left hand side of the evaluation results form.
- NOTE: Multi-instructor courses (i.e. courses where multiple instructors are team-teaching a specific course) are not used in the development of an instructor's overall average. Please note that the course average is not marked with an asterisk.
- The results of the final five questions (i.e. the course related questions) are not used to develop the instructor's overall average. This average is provided for informational purposes.
