Netscape Messenger Changes

Due to server changes, we require that those people using Netscape Messenger to access their CLiC email, make the following changes to their server settings. These instructions apply to Netscape Messenger versions 7.1 and 7.2. Please contact the helpdesk if you are using any other version of Netscape. This will not affect the way you send or receive e-mail.

NOTE: Each computer is set up differently, so you may not see the same icons, options, colors, settings, etc. as are displayed on this page.


1. Open Netscape Mail and Newsgroups by double-clicking the icon labeled "Netscape Mail & Newsgroups" on your desktop. You may also open Netscape by clicking the Start button, choosing Programs menu, selecting Netscape 7.1 (or 7.2), and clicking on Netscape Mail & Newsgroups. Log into your account.


2. With Netscape now open, click the Edit menu to expand its contents. Select Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings.


3. With Netscape Mail and Newsgroups Account Settings now open, clic on server settings. Where it says Server Name, you will need to change it to postoffice.norwich.edu


4. Next, on the left hand side, click on Outgoing Server(SMTP). Type mailsend.norwich.edu


5. Once you have completed the steps above, click the OK button at the bottom of the screen and you will be finished.
